Troubleshooting

Proceed as in the order below….

  1. Close all other apps
  2. Clear the Cache
  3. (If still needed) Run a Speedtest
  4. Restart Firestick

It is highly recommended that you close background apps and clear the cache every day.

Close all other apps

The fastest and easiest way to do this is with an app called Background.

To install it go to search/find then type “background”

Choose the Background Apps & Proccess List app

Download, install and open.

Use the steps below to turn off background apps on your Fire TV device.

Upon launching Background Apps & Process List, you will encounter the app home screen.

The best way to speed up your device is by force closing any running apps you are not using.

Select “Close all apps” then you can go to each one individually.

This will then open App Settings of any apps that are currently running. Click Force Close and then click back.

You will then be directed to the next app that is running.

Click force close again and continue doing this until all apps have been closed.

Clear the Cache

This can be done at the same time as using the above app or seperately as below

First choose the settings icon on the far right of the line

Choose Applications

Click Manage Installed Applications.

Find the app you wish to clear cache for and select it. (In this example we are choosing the Downloader app, but we need to find the XCplayer app too.)

Scroll down and click clear cache.

That’s it!

You have successfully cleared the cache for an app on your firestick. You can scroll up and Force Close before launch app to completely restart (recommended)

Run a Speed Test

From the Home screen please go to Settings (bottom right)

Choose Speed Test

The middle Download figure needs to be a minimum of 20 Mbps for non buffering viewing of Live TV.

Restart the Firestick

To power off your Firestick completely, simply hold down on the Select button and Play/Pause button at the same time for approximately five seconds.
